Cumbrian players wanted for national rugby league series

Players are wanted for a Cumbria side to compete in rugby league’s National Masters series.

Wath Brow Hornets will host a National Masters festival on July 29.

The two teams making their way up to Cumbria are Blackpool and the Bahtah’s.

The Bahtah’s Masters team are a band of hardened Masters born out of the 2009 Australia touring party.

They have planned a full year of fixtures throughout 2012, taking their love for the game around the country to help develop the sport in other regions.

Cumbria will be entering two teams into the competition but are still in need of players to help join their ranks.

Any players over 35 years and are interested in playing in the Masters can apply for a spot.

Masters is strictly a social version of the sport and the rules are slightly modified to cater for the older player. There are no winners, no champions and no cup finals. Masters is about the spirit of the game.

Anyone interested in playing should contact Matt Jefferson on 07775022799 or matt.jefferson@rfl.uk.com
