IT WAS another high scoring week in the Over 35 league with the division one game at Frizington topping the list with 15 goals.
The home side beat Carlisle Zimmer’s 10-5 with strikes from Gary Bellard (3), Adrian Banks (3), John Carr, Dave Bowness, Steve Carruthers and Adam Jackson.
For the Zimmer's Dee Devlin (2), Les Armstrong, Mark Armstrong and Phil Wall were on target.
The Bush, bottom team in division one, crashed 11-0 at home to St Bedes. Mark Storey (5), Jimmy Elliot (3), Doug Sharp, Rick Sharp and John Firth were the Carlisle side’s scorers.
Netherhall dented Grasslots league title ambitions when they held their Maryport rivals to a 1-1 draw. Billy Gilmour was the Netherhall scorer with Mike Dempsey responding for Grasslot.
Carlisle kept up the pressure on Grasslot at the top with a 2-1 victory at Silloth, however no scorers were recorded.
In division two Whitehaven maintained their lead at the top with a 10-2 win over bottom team Frostoms. Neil Irvine (3), Paul Hodgson (3), Billy Simpson (2), Sean Doran and Dave Park scored for Whitehaven with Tommy Linford and Mike Cameron replying for the Workington side.
Globe travelled to Carlisle to play Howard's and came away 5-0 winners thanks to goals from Rab Bower (3), Simon Rickerby and Mark Walton. Globe have averaged seven goals in their last four games.
Moresby got back to winning ways against Blue Bell, however the Workington team were unlucky not to get a share of the points hitting the woodwork on several occasions. Gary Charlton and Peter Curtis scored to give the home side all three points.
Penrith hosted Hall Park and having beaten them comfortably away from home earlier in the season a home win was much to be expected.
Penrith were a goal up in five minutes when a Hall Park defender reacted to some pressure by lobbing his own keeper for an unfortunate own goal.
Penrith continued to dominate and 15 minutes later Martin Blenkinship finished a fine flowing move down the left converting a Mark Lawson cross at the far post.
Penrith soon made it 3-0 when Mark Brookes fired home from 20 yards after half an hour but just before half-time Hall Park got themselves back in the game when they broke away and Sean Monaghan pulled one back to leave it 3-1 at the break.
The second half saw Penrith make a string of substitutions and this has an immediate impact when Stokes, Parkin and Graham linked up well and fed Mike Chubb who calmly rounded the keeper to restore Penrith’s three-goal advantage.
However 10 minutes later a rare error in goals by Sonny Askins allowed Hall Parks Gary Dodgson to make it 4-2.
With 20 minutes left Parkin should have had a penalty for a blatant foul, a corner was given instead and it was Parkin who lashed home a half volley from 18 yards to make it 5-2 to the hosts and in the closing minutes Penrith made it 6-2 when Mark Brookes scored his second.
The top 10 leading goalscorers in the league this season are: Simon Rickerby, Globe, 13; Phil Graham, Grasslot, 12; Mark Herd, Howard’s Rangers, 10; Mark Storey, St Bede’s, 9; Billy Simpson, Whitehaven Amateurs, 8; Michael Dempsey, Grasslot, 7; Rab Bower, Globe, 6; Gary Charlton, Moresby, 6; Robert Fowler, Blue Bell, 6; Gordon Hewitt, Moresby, 6.
