Portland, the reigning league champions, are chasing four trophies.

They are already through to the League Cup final - against William Hill on Sunday - are second place in the premier division and have reached the semi-final of the County Cup.

But they almost came unstuck at the weekend when they had to come from behind before pipping Northside in a 4-3 thriller.

Portland were never ahead until David Dustin fired home a spectacular 30-yarder 10 minutes from the end to win the game.

Dustin had only joined the action as a substitute 20 minutes from time and he grabbed Portland’s equaliser to make it 3-3 with his first touch.

Northside, who weren’t able to field their strongest team, competed well against an out of sorts Portland and led three times through Michael Pickering (2) and Jamie Moore.

Lee Taylor and Kevin Connolly had kept Portland in the contest until Dustin arrived to fire them to victory.

In the other semi-final Moorclose came out on top 3-1 against Bluebell, which was quite a performance.

Moorclose have slipped down division one in recent weeks whilst Bluebell are third in the premier division.

Shaun Scott (2) and John Dakers scored for Moorclose while Nick Hopkins responded for Bluebell.

Portland beat Moorclose 5-0 a couple of weeks ago to reach the semi-finals of the County Cup.

While Portland were in President’s Cup action their nearest rivals in the league, Yankees Bar Utd, went top after a hard-earned 1-0 win at Red Lion. Craig Lewthwaite scored the only goal.

Yankees hold a three-point advantage at the top but Portland have three games in hand.

In division one Deer Orchard have extended their lead to six points as a result of their big 9-0 win over Oval Centre.

Keith Skillen (3), Nat Mitchell (2), Paul Williamson (2), Darren Nicholson and Alan Berry scored the goals.

The battle for the division two crown looks to be a two-horse race after second-placed William Hill beat third-in-the-table Grasslot Welfare 5-2 to lead them by five points with a game in hand.

Mark Hine fired a hat-trick for the winners and was joined on the sheet by Mark Stephenson and Trevor Holm. Jo Redmond and Gavin Walling found the net for Grasslot.

Leaders Curwen Arms were also clear winners, beating Seaton Village 6-2 with goals from Darren Lumsden (2), Scott Pears, Stuart Gray, Jake McGovern and Gary Quayle. Barry Miller (pen) and Dan Tyre scored the goals for Seaton Village.

Curwen Arms lead by nine points but William Hill have three games in hand so it could be a photo finish.

Royal Oak jumped to within a point of The Well when they scored a 1-0 win over their rivals with a lone goal by David Southern.

n The drinks company, WKD, has launched a competition to find the country’s best Sunday League side.

But it’s a competition with a wicked spin for they’re only interested in sides with such things as best goal celebration, or dodgiest name or laziest coach.

The prize is a brand-new kit, £2,000 cash, a season-long profile on the WKD website and year’s supply of WKD.

All players in an entering team must be aged over 18. Entries should be emailed to wkd@willoughby-pr.co.uk with a short description of why you should win, along with supporting photos and video clips by April 25.
