Versatile forward James Tilley is the newest recruit at the Recreation Ground.

Haven boss Carl Forster has snapped up the strong running forward, who spent last year at Rochdale Hornets.

Tilley spent almost 10 years with Super League outfit St Helens, beginning his career with the famous club at age 11.

He was named player of the year at under-16, 18 and 19 but had to leave the club when he was told he wouldn’t be given another contract.

Tilley then joined Rochdale in 2015 and played 22 games there last season.

Forster said: "I am happy to get James on board, he's got a good background being full time at Saints so he knows the type of rugby I want to play.

"He will bring us energy in the middle of the field and being a forward that can play some good rugby he is exactly what I wanted."

Tilley's addition will strengthen Haven's pack for the new season in League One.

And coach Forster is being active in recruitment, talking to several more prospects as he hopes to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion back into the Championship.
