Whitehaven have been handed a huge boost by dual-registration partners Widnes ahead of the Super 8s.

It has named four Vikings players in their side for tomorrow’s Championship fixture against Featherstone Rovers, kick-off 6pm.

Haven travel to The Big Fellas Stadium with prop forward twins Jay and Ted Chapelhow named in their squad as well as long-standing half-back Grant Gore and utility-back Ed Chamberlain.

After being named in Haven’s squad for this weekend it is likely that the quartet will be involved in Haven’s campaign until the end of the season.

“It’s looking as though we’ll have these four players for the remainder of the season, and that’s a massive boost for us,” head coach James Coyle said.

“Widnes have really helped us out and it gives us strength in depth for the rest of the season.

“We were in danger of having a bare 17 to pick from but now we’ve got these players, who are quality, and it means everyone has to raise their game to get into the side.

“There are no guaranteed spots for any player.”

Coyle’s side travel to Featherstone for the final game of the regular season and hopes to see an improvement from his side after a disappointing run of three consecutive defeats.

Haven have taken on the Rovers twice already this season, once in the league and once in the Challenge Cup, but were beaten 36-12 on both occasions.

“We want to go there and get a bit of momentum,” Coyle added. “It was disappointing to lose the players we did last week but we still have to look at what happened on the pitch.

“We need to stay healthy and we just need to play with a little bit more intensity. “We need to go out there and win the ruck in both attack and defence, which we didn’t do last week.

“Our preparation for this weekend has been a lot better compared to last week. “Peter Williams [assistant coach] missed last week due to other commitments so it’s been a big boost having him back.

“It helps a lot more when you have two pairs of eyes in training and also when it comes to game time.

“We had a great session on Tuesday night and Kurtis Quinn was one of the stand-out players in training.

"He was unlucky to miss out last weekend, but he’ll get his chance tomorrow.” Stephen Fox has also been named in the 19-man squad and could make his first appearance since Haven’s 28-12 win over Hunslet in June.

Haven’s 19-man squad: Aiye, Ancely, Beaumont, Brooks, Burns, Calvert, Chamberlain (DR), J Chapelhow (DR), T Chapelhow (DR), Davies, Fox, Gore (DR), Hepi, Jouffret, McAvoy, Newton, Quinn, Taylor, Wilde
