Haven fans have taken to social media to wish their team good luck in the League 1 play-off final against Barrow Raiders.

The match at Craven Park, ko 3pm, will be bittersweet for some fans as it will also mark the end of the road for two of the club's biggest stars Craig Calvert and Scott McAvoy who will retire after the final.

Fans are hoping that the duo can help lead Haven to victory and promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt.

John Knox posted: "It's been a tough year but to come within 80 minutes of getting promoted is a fantastic achievement. Critics called the coach but he has proven the doubters wrong. Let as many get to craven park to cheer the lads on. Good luck guys."

Simon Taylor added: "Had a great year up and down the UK watching us. Been a different spirit about the whole club this year and I'm proud to call myself a Whitehaven fan."

And Gary McCartney said: "One last push lads then a well deserved rest for you all, thanks for being competitive this season and giving us hope we can bounce back, good luck, the popularsiders will be like an extra man on sundayπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘"

One of the club's biggest fans, Helen Moore Fawcett said: "We would like to wish Whitehaven R.L.F.C the very best of luck in the final against Barrow on Sunday.

"We as a family have been fans of Whitehaven all our lives and support Haven through all it's ups and downs. We would also like to wish Macca and Calvert all the very best in their retirement from rugby and to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Love Calvert's Number One Fan Helen, Mark Jack, Caine, Albert and Tillie xx."

Tommy Lagan posted: "Been a pleasure following u around the country and all the best for sunday haven to i die."

Stephen Holliday: "One last push just smash em #itchywahwahOne last push just smash em #itchywahwah"

Anne-marie Wise was disappointed not to be able to get to the final but still wanted to send her best saying: "Just want to wish the lads the staff and everyone thats involved whitehaven rugby league club good luck against barrow sunday SORRY WE CAN'T BE THERE HAVEN HAVEN ALL THE WAY XX"

And there were more fans spurring them on to greater things.

John Nichol said: "Going too be a good battle but whitehaven r.l.f.c will win carl Forster what a coach great player too best of luck assa marras."

Laura Barr added: "The haven lads have been great all season be amazing if we could top it off with promotion ! Good luck guys #haven."
