Haven player-coach Carl Forster has urged fans to get Craven Park "rocking" during the League One play-off final on Sunday.

Hundreds of fans are expected to make the trip to Barrow to watch Haven take on Paul Crarey's Raiders side.

Forster insists his team will be ready for the clash after coming through extra time to see off York City Knights 21-20 in the semi-final.

"The support is everything, when the fans got vocal on Sunday it pulled us through," he said. "If we get Barrow rocking with Haven fans then it'll certainly help, the more there the better.

"It'll be typical Barrow, they will be thinking it's an easy game for them. We'll let them do all the talking. We're not too fussed about them as long as we've got our game plan sorted.

"It won't be hard to get up for a final, we've been waiting for this for ten to 12 months, we're ready for it and have got to channel any nerves properly."

Two tries from Jessie Joe Parker and one from Tommy Holland as well as four goals from Paul Crook and Steven Roper's 105 minute drop goal edged Haven past York.

"It was pretty surreal, it seemed to never end. It was a good experience but I wouldn't want to have to do it again any time soon," said Forster

"I wasn't even in the mood to celebrate, it was sheer relief. It could have gone either way but the lads managed to grind it out."

He added: "From a rugby perspective I thought we were pretty bad, the conditions didn't help, but playing bad and winning against a good York side shows the character, grit and determination in the squad."

Forster doesn't believe the epic encounter with York will hamper his team against Barrow.

He said: "People will read into that but it's only an extra 25 minutes, you can do that in training or the gym. We'll take it as a positive as it let's us know that we can go for 105 minutes. We will recover this week

"We'll train on Saturday instead of Friday and go for food together then hopefully do the business on Sunday."

Experienced winger Craig Calvert and semi-final try-scorer Parker are both nursing injuries ahead of the game. But Calvert, along with captain Scott McAvoy, will be involved against Barrow, making their final Haven appearances.

"Jessie and Calvert have got knocks but nothing to keep them out of a final, maybe if it was another game they wouldn't play," said Forster.

"I'll make the calls which are the best for the team but what is best for the team is to have them two playing. Macca has been great all year and Calvert has put in some great performances."
