Whitehaven youngster Kurtis Quinn says he can’t wait to take to the field for the first time in nearly 11 months after making a full recovery from a shoulder injury.

Prop forward Quinn last played for Haven in the final game of last season but has been sidelined since after injuring his shoulder in pre-season training.

The 19-year-old was named on the bench for Sunday’s game against Dewsbury but missed out after Sam Brooks declared himself fit.

However, Quinn is keen to put last weekend behind him and is hoping for a run-out on Saturday against Featherstone Rovers.

“I was disappointed to miss out but James Coyle made the call and, at the end of the day, it’s up to him,” Quinn said.

“But missing out means that I have a bit more time this week to prepare myself and make sure I’m up to speed with the plays.

“I’ve been doing full contact in training for a few weeks now and I feel ready to go. “I found it really tough being sidelined for so long but I’ve had great support from the club, the fans and my friends and family.

“It’ll be a chance for me to get some game time before the Super 8s, but at the end of the day I just want to help the team out.

“It’s my hometown team and I want us to do well over the next few weeks so I’ll be giving it everything. I’m ready to rip in.”
