Whitehaven will restage their Championship clash with London Broncos in less than a fortnight’s time.

The Broncos have come back to the Cumbrians to confirm they will return to Whitehaven on Sunday, April 17 for the re-match.

Both teams are out of the Challenge Cup so that weekend was a natural fill-in date following Saturday’s postponement.

Whitehaven are also waiting to re-arrange a postponed home game with Featherstone from earlier in the season, but that will be played when Rovers are out of the Challenge Cup.

Heavy rain throughout the day contributed to Saturday night’s postponement which was confirmed as soon as the match referee arrived almost 90 minutes ahead of kick-off.

West Cumbrian-based match commissioner Peter Gilmour had decided to wait until the referee’s arrival before a decision was made on the state of the pitch.

Although Haven play their home games on a Saturday night this season they have given Broncos the option of playing on a Sunday for the re-arranged clash.

Meanwhile, the club is still waiting to appoint a new number two to coach James Coyle following the departure of Peter Williams through work commitments.

Two names are in the frame, both of them county-based, but no decision has yet been made on which one will join Coyle at the Recreation Ground.

Latest assessment on winger Elliot Miller’s damaged shoulder is that he could be out of action for four months.

The club’s top try scorer, Miller was injured in the Good Friday derby with his former club Workington Town.

He has had a scan on the shoulder and is due to have his operation on Saturday, April 16.

Director James Robinson said: “Obviously it’s a great shame because Elliot has already proved his worth to the team by being top try scorer.”
