Haven have been lifted ahead of this weekend’s crunch derby fixture with Workington after two key players signed new deals to keep them at the club.

Papua New Guinea internationals Jessie Joe Parker and Dion Aiye put pen to paper to remain at the Recreation Ground next year.

And bosses are delighted to have secured the duo, Parker on a two-year contract and Aiye for a year.

Haven general manager Amanda Hewer said: “The club is delighted to announce the signing of both Jessie Joe Parker and Dion Aiye.

“The club football committee, along with Gary Eilbeck and Mark Stamper, have been working hard on these signings and these things take time and patience.

“It’s a great boost for the club before going to Derwent Park on Sunday.

“It shows that these two players are committed not only to the club but to the town itself, they are immensely popular with the public.

“Let’s hope the signings spur on the team for victory.”

There is no bigger match for both Whitehaven and Workington than this Sunday’s Championship clash at the Zebra Claims Stadium, ko 3pm.

Both teams are currently sitting in the relegation zone and the points are vital for both.
