Whitehaven prop forward Kurtis Quinn, above, says it’s all about quality and not quantity as he makes his return from injury.

The youngster came off the bench in last weekend’s 29-0 win over Featherstone in what was his first appearance in a Haven shirt in nearly a year.

Quinn is now hopeful that he can become a regular fixture in the West Cumbrian side during their final seven games of the season.

“I got the call from James [Coyle] in the build-up to the game and he told me that I’d be on the bench,” he said.

“I missed out the week before against Dewsbury but it gave me a bit more time to prepare.

“I knew my role and what I had to do. I just wanted to get on the pitch.

“When I was told to get ready to go on, James told me it was all about quality and not quantity and I needed to make sure I made the most of my opportunities.”

Quinn hopes that his side can carry the momentum from their win against Featherstone into their opening Super 8s fixture against the Rovers this weekend, again at The Big Fellas Stadium.

“One to 17 dug deep and it was the performance we needed,” he continued. “We had been a bit scrappy in the last few weeks but there’s a great team spirit at the moment and it was a real team effort.”
