With the club still battling for promotion back to the Championship, who do you believe has been the stand-out player for Whitehaven this season? Here is your chance to make your selection. John Walsh looks at six possible winners...

Carl Forster

It’s already been a dream first season for the Haven coach, and a Player of the Year award at the club would complete a fine double.

Voted Coach of the Year for League One by his peers, Forster has also been influential on the field.

Leading from the front with total commitment, he has been one of the stand-out front-rowers in the Division.

Jordan Burns

The former Kells winger has come on a ton this year, maturing into a confident and effective player.

Operating at full-back on occasions, he has shown great calmness and confidence under the high ball.

As a winger, he has run with determination from counter-attacking positions and has become a reliable finisher.

Dion Aiye

The Papua New Guinea star might have been late arriving but he’s rapidly made up for lost time.

In a variety of positions, he has proved a key player with both craft and power.

Hitting top form at exactly the right time, and enjoying a recent hat-trick against Town, he will be a big performer in the play-offs.

Paul Crook

The experienced half-back was a shrewd addition to the Whitehaven ranks.

His goal-kicking has been virtually faultless, and invaluable, while tactical placement has been good.

After helping Rochdale to promotion last season, he could be Whitehaven’s talisman this time round.

Glenn Riley

The former Wath Brow amateur has had a breakthrough season.

Powerful, whole-hearted prop whose surging runs are augmented by valuable defensive qualities.

Injury problems have troubled his season but, typical of the spirit in the side, he has battled on regardless.

Scott McAvoy

Another whose season was delayed after recovering from knee surgery.

A true Whitehaven warrior he has been so influential for the side in their long unbeaten run and throughout the campaign.

Covering Workington Town for so long, I hadn’t realised how good a player he was until watching Haven regularly for the last two seasons.
