Whitehaven have revealed their new home kit for the 2017 season with the away version to follow.

Director Mark Stamper led a small team of board members and fans who contributed the ideas for the new design.

He said: “We were happy with what we came up with and the supporters have appeared to give it the thumbs-up.

“Incorporated into the inside collar is Carl Forster’s club motto for 2017 – Earn the Shirt – which we think is an excellent motivational declaration.

“Carl has confirmed four pre-season games and that will give the new lads game time to push their claims for a start when we open the competitive programme.

“Delivery of the new shirts is due the week of December 14 and our fans are invited to call down at the ground and place a pre-order as we expect a brisk response.”

Whitehaven chairman Tommy Todd headed a group of a dozen from the club who attended

Parliament’s annual charity rugby league dinner in the House of Lords, hosted by the Parliamentary Rugby League Group on Monday.

Guest of honour was Paul Wellens, who played 20 Test Matches for Great Britain, eleven Tests for England and 495 games for St Helens.

Wellens is currently part of the St Helens coaching set up, and since retiring from international duty has been part of the England coaching squad, including in this year’s Four Nations tournament. The annual event brings together Members of Parliament, Peers and rugby league supporters from all over the UK to celebrate the sport and raise money for charity.

Haven chairman Todd said: “It was an interesting and enjoyable evening hearing Paul's thoughts on this year’s Four Nations - just a day after that tournament had ended.

“We are proud to be a member of the Group and the added bonus of an event like this is that it raises funds for rugby league charities.”
