Luis Suarez's handshake refusal was disgraceful, so was Kenny Dalglish's reaction

Kenny Dalglish’s denial that Luis Suarez had done anything wrong by rebuffing Patrice Evra’s handshake was sad, but not surprising.

The Liverpool boss has hardly covered himself in glory throughout the whole sage engulfing his star striker.

Suarez’s refusal to draw a line in the sand before the old foes met was disgusting.

It was premeditated and should have been dealt with immediately.

Instead of condemning Suarez’s crass actions, Anfield officials predicatively went on the offensive.

Following the 2-1 defeat, Dalglish sneered at Geoff Shreaves’s post-match questioning.

Eyeballing the Sky commentator, the Scott branded Shreaves “bang out of order” for daring to suggest Suarez had done something wrong.

The Kop King should have admitted it was in fact Suarez who was bang out of order.

Sir Alex Ferguson hit back; describing Suarez as a disgrace.

He said: “I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it.

“He’s a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club. Some players should not be allowed to play for Liverpool again.”

Suarez was snubbed himself when he confronted Rio Ferdinand seconds later.

Ferdinand said: “After seeing what I saw I decided not to shake his hand.

“I lost all respect for the guy after that.”

But Evra was no angel himself, celebrating in scenes reminiscent of Gary Neville at the final whistle right in front of his rival.

His arm-waving in front of the United fans could have ended nastily, but as regrettable as it was, you can understand why Evra was so emotional.

Fergie and all you people in lock-step with him is so out of touch. This is not a 'racism' issue at all - and both Fergie and Evra know it. They saw a way to trying and hang Suarez and LFC - and they took it. Suarez is part black and has done a lot of charity work in the slums of South America. He is not racist, the FA says his not racist, Evra said he didn't think he was racist - but Fergie keeps banging on about racism. What we saw today was the inability of Suarez to capitulate (again) in the moment. He's paid his fine, done his time, and been vilified in the English press as the poster boy of racism - in the biggest country of bigots and thugs. That hurts! He was forced to drop his appeal, watched as Terry and Ferdinand were let off the handshakes, and now expected to kowtow to a sneering Evra. He is foolish and petulant - but he's 24 years old. Now we have Fergie talking about him as if he were a murderer needing to be taken out. This is why Dalglish is angry - it's political and it's machiavellian. The media want their little foreign immigrant scapegoat to absolve England of its history of hooligan ugliness. The whole thing is a farce and I can't believe all these pious, sanctimonious comments I'm reading.
