Seaton took on Carlisle City in the quarter-finals of the girls’ county cup, the game was played on Netherhall’s astro turf as the Seaton pitches were unplayable.

This was Seaton’s first competitive game since October as there is no league set up in the Allerdale area and the Carlisle Glass League will not allow Seaton to join.

Seaton will take on Penrith in the semi-finals but a venue and date has still to be arranged.

Carlisle got off to the better start as Seaton were understandably rusty but the back three of Samantha McKenzie Olivia Bell and Samantha McGarry along with Brittney Bell in goal kept them at bay.

The Seaton midfield started to get a hold on the match with Melissa Donohue and Charlotte Caldow both playing well and the deadlock was broken after 10 minutes when winger Chloe Henderson beat a defender and squared the ball to Clair Blackburn who hit an accurate shot past the City keeper.

Seaton where on top now and again the ball was moved quickly down the left for Blackburn to hit a hard low cross which Sarah Goodhall rocketed into the back of the net for Seaton to lead 2-0 at the break.

Carlisle came out in the second half looking for a quick reply and were gifted one when one of the Seaton defender slipped.

Seaton upped the tempo and it wasn't long before the pressure paid dividends when Caldow raced on to a perfect pass from the ever improving Shannon O’Fee to score Seaton’s third and seal the victory.

City never gave up but couldn't break down Seaton’s rock-solid defence.
