Red Devils just hang on to beat Dolphins

In an entertaining U10 division one game the Red Devils had all the early pressure, with Luke Jackson in the Maryport goal pulling off some great saves before Ewan Robinson scored from close range to give the Devils a 1-0 half-time lead.

The second half was much more even. Harry Humm put the Red Devils 2-0 up before Klayton Kewin pulled one back for the Dolphins.
The game was now end to end with chances for both teams. Good defensive work from James Atkinson and Danny Harrison saw the Red Devils hold their lead at 2-1.
Cockermouth 3
Whitehaven MS 0
Cockermouth started this U10 division three game very positively and were soon in control with two well-taken goals from Jonathon Bell.
Whitehaven responded well and had a couple of good efforts well saved by Jordan Eland in the Cockermouth goal.
The second half remained close with some good attacking. Marcus Stables capped a man of the match performance adding a third for Cockermouth.

Wigton Harriers 1
This was a hard-fought game in U10 division one.
Cockermouth started the better and had lots of early possession. Although creating chances they didn’t manage to establish a crucial early lead and Wigton grew into the game.
Cockermouth then took the lead as half-time approached with a neat finish from Sam Burns. Wigton had a couple of late chances but the half finished at 1-0.
Wigton then dominated the start of the second half and scored an excellent goal and looked like they were going to take control and win.
Cockermouth however then broke up field and a long-range effort from Luke Graham cleared the Wigton keeper. Graham then scored again quickly to establish a lead from which Wigton could not return.
Maryport Jnrs 1
Bigrigg Bulls 2
Bigrigg Bulls battled to their first win against the mighty Maryport Jnrs after several defeats since they first met as U7s.
The Bulls withstood intense first-half pressure, going into the break only 1-0 down after a goal from Jamie Blamire.
Ten minutes into the second half Bigrigg equalised and in the dying minutes managed to score a winner to take the U10 division one points.
Workington Jnrs 2
Calder Lions 3
After a scrappy start to this game, Workington took the lead with a Ben Powell goal during the first half in which Workington keeper Adam Cowan played well.
In the second half Liam Williamson and Elliot Earl were strong in mid-field for Workington for whom Powell scored again.
But Workington then seemed to go to sleep and allowed Calder to score three goals to take the U10 division three points.

Seaton 8
Seaton’s winning ways continued with another comfortable win in U10 division three.
An early goal from Robbie Holt set the standard and by half-time they had a 4-0 advantage after further goals from Macauley Hannah, Jonathon McAllister and Lewis Brown.
The second half found Seaton totally dominate, though credit to Whitehaven for never giving up.
Further Seaton goals were scored by Lewis Mason, Holt, Brown and McAllister.

Matthew Needham and Matthew Wilson both scored hat-tricks while Brooklyn Weir, Matthew Stoddart, Kieran Carruthers and Oliver Dustin got the other goals for Allerdale in this U8 game.
