Devils snatch winner in pulsating game

This was a tight U10 division one game between two committed teams.
Workington Red Devils 2
Maryport Jnrs 1
Maryport started well and had several dangerous corners and long shots confidently dealt with by Lewis Maxwell in the Workington goal.
Workington, with Logan Potter outstanding in midfield, took the lead with a fantastic solo goal from Kieran Mewse.
He beat two challenges in his own half and raced away to slot the ball into the net.
Maryport weren't finished and equalised when Maxwell saved a shot but Cameron Moir forced the rebound in.
The game could now have gone either way but was won by the Red Devils when Jack Parker looped the ball over the Maryport keeper,.
Maryport surged forward looking for an equaliser but Danny Harrison broke away for the Reds and nearly scored a third, being denied by a great save from the Maryport keeper.

The wind caused problems in this match. Workington Jnrs scored first through Liam Williamson and then Maryport responded next through Riley Short and finally in the first half Jack Parker got on the scoresheet giving Maryport the lead at half-time 2-1.
In the second half Williamson scored two more goals for the Juniors to give him his hat-trick and his team the win.
Both teams were in outstanding form it was just a shame one side had to lose.
Man-of-the-match Adam Cowen had an excellent game in goal and defender Thomas Glover put in outstanding tackles throughout.
