BUDDING goalkeepers can brush up on their skills at a coaching camp this Easter school holidays.
Former Workington Reds assistant manager Tony Elliott will be working for the Cumberland FA in putting on the session.
Youngsters - boys and girls - between the ages of seven and 14 can take part in the three-hour session on April 2 at the Whitehaven Amateurs’ Astra Turf pitch. The cost is only £5.
Elliott is holding a similar coaching session at Carlisle’s Sheepmount on April 1 and is attempting to visit different parts of the county, having already covered Penrith and Maryport.
He said: “I’m trying to make goal-keeping fashionable again. Over the last few years when I have been coaching and organising goalkeeping schools I have seen a number of talented youngsters. “I am sure they are out there now and I’m trying to cover as many areas as I can to see what we can find.”
Elliott is also employed by Liverpool FC where he works with the Academy goalkeepers - boys from the age of eight through to 16.
“I’m hoping that Liverpool will run a special goal-keeping course in Cumbria some time during the summer,” said Elliott who is also spending a fortnight in Norway during August coaching keepers on behalf of the Anfield giants.
The two Easter camps, at Carlisle and Whitehaven, will run from 10am to 1pm and anyone interested can contact Elliott on 07711724090.
