Bransty 1 Bigrigg Bulls 6

Despite heroic saves by Bransty’s keeper and man-of-the-match, Lewis Broatch, Bransty went into the half-time break 6-0 down.

As usual strikers Ben Graham and Lewis Jolly scored well and Lewis Park, relieved of his defensive duties, also scored twice.

After the break the Bulls reorganised players. Rhys Miller and Matthew Sempill added to the tally, as did Daniel Jones in a rare foray up front.

Taylor Bower pulled one back for Bransty, keeping very cool on the ball to defeat stand-in keeper David Houghton.

Wigton 3 Bigrigg Bulls 3

Bigrigg Bulls opened their account in the third minute when Matthew Sempill trapped a throw in and put a perfectly weighted pass through to Rhys Miller who placed the ball firmly in the net.

Just on half time Adam thundered a long shot just inside the post, which Patrick Cowman could not quite reach.

Minutes later cousin Robbie again aimed a strong low shot goalwards that defeated Cowman.

In the second half Adam scored again with a high shot. Bigrigg regrouped and had several good chances that they just couldn’t convert.

Then Wigton’s keeper David Carruthers punched out a strong high shot from Matthew Sempill but Ben Graham was able to net the loose ball.

In the dying moments of the game Lewis Jolly was able to loft a shot over Carruthers to secure a well-deserved draw.

Wigton U16 0 Windscale U16 8

Windscale started the stronger of the two teams and were 5-0 up by half time, courtesy of a double by Gregg Stainton, with further goals coming from Robert Carr, Ryan McCourt and Luke O'Connor.

Windscale were unfortunate not to extend their lead before the break with the Wigton keeper denying the visitors time and again, pulling off a number of impressive saves.

Windscale kept up their tempo in the second half and scored their sixth when a free-kick was punched out by the keeper and after it was crossed back into the box, Andrew Baxter controlled it, spun around and hit the ball into the top corner.

The game was marred, however, by a serious injury to Carr who fell heavily and suffered a fractured forearm.

The match was rounded off in terrific fashion with McCourt and O’Connor each adding another goal to their tally.
