Kyle Bickley’s speedway season has been thrown into doubt after two of the rising star’s engines blew up in France at the weekend.

The 13-year-old from Workington was competing at the FIM Youth World Cup in the 250cc class in Lamothe, France.

Disaster struck when he blew two engines at the competition.

Kyle, who finished 15th out of 37 riders at the Youth World Cup, has now been left with just one functioning bike but he needs to use three in rotation to compete.

Kyle’s dad Tony said: “This leaves his season in doubt as we need to rebuild the engines and this will cost £1,000 each.”

Kyle will be unable to race at Poole on Wednesday and at Swindon on Thursday.

He is also set to miss the 250cc World Longtrack final in Germany and 250cc Jawa Cup in the Czech Republic, which both take place next month.

Mr Bickley appealed to anyone who is able to help contribute towards the repairs of Kyle’s bikes to call him on 07711404470.
