There was yet more success for Seaton Rangers at the weekend as the curtain came down on the 2015 West Cumbria Youth and Junior League season.

On Sunday, Hensingham U12s took on Seaton Rangers U12s in the play-off final and it turned out to be a great game of rugby league.

Hensingham set the scoreboard rolling with a Jamie Lewthwaite try in the first half, with Deon Crowe converting the goal to give Hensingham a narrow 6-0 lead at the break.

In the second half it was Seaton who finished the stronger and lifted the silverware at the final whistle after scoring 14 unanswered points.

Seaton drew level within four minutes of the restart when loose forward Ben Postlethwaite danced around some static Hensingham defenders to plant the ball down behind the sticks, scrum-half Ciaran Walker landed the first of his three goal to pull it back to 6-6.

Five minutes later Walker edged Seaton ahead with a well-taken penalty goal when Hensingham were adjudged offside at a play the ball situation.

Hensingham tried hard to get back in the game, but when Seaton’s second-rower Kieren Wallace broke through and raced in for a try, with Walker adding the goal, it was too late.

Man of the match was awarded to Seaton’s second-rower and captain Kieren Wallace for an outstanding performance as he led from the front in both attack and defence.

The U16s final was played on Friday night between Seaton Rangers and Wath Brow Hornets.

Everything was to play for in the match as the two teams had already met twice in two cup finals this season.

Seaton got off to a flyer when winger Jason Burrow went in at the corner after only five minutes of play.

Rangers doubled their tally midway through the first half when winger Bailey Walker crossed in the corner.

With half-time looming, Wath Brow were putting the Seaton line under great pressure which finally paid off when prop forward Mark Miller crashed over near the uprights to give stand-off Curtis Teare an easy conversion and close the half out at 8-6 in favour of Seaton.

Seaton raised their game in the second half and shocked Brow with two quick touchdowns in the opening 10 minutes to extend their lead to 16-6.

Firstly, stand-off Liam Williamson went over the Brow whitewash on four minutes, followed five minutes later with centre Ross Barton slicing through for the four pointer.

Then, just before the final whistle, Seaton’s loose forward crowned a wonderful man of the match performance with the final try of the game as the No13 waltzed through some slack Brow defence for the winning touchdown.

And when the extras were added from the boot of Williamson, it was too big of a mountain to climb for the Brow. Seaton won the game 22-6.

In the U14s play-off final, Hensingham who already had the League, BARLA County Cup and League Cup trophies under their belt, took on Seaton Rangers.

And it was another excellent team performance from Hensingham that assured them their fourth trophy of the season as they beat Seaton 80-4.

Seaton crossed the Hensingham try-line through Joe Roper midway into the second period.
