Allerdale Girls are celebrating their very own ‘Invincibles’ team after their under-14 Futsal side clinched a stunning third league title in a row in the West Cumbria Youth League.

The team went unbeaten all season, scoring more than 70 goals while conceding just 10 and were also presented with the League and County Cups by the Cumberland FA’s football development officer, Ray Sempill.

Coach Brian Crelling said: “After last year, being narrowly beaten in the county finals by an excellent Stanwix team on penalties, the girls really wanted to win this year and every girl gave 100 per cent to produce one of the best team performances possible.

“I am so proud of all of the girls.”

They will travel to Liverpool next month to compete in the Northern Futsal Final against winners from the Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Manchester regions.

Victory there would see the West Cumbrians travel to the National Futsal Final at Birmingham in June.

The team are also just one win away from retaining the under-14 girls football league title.

The club only started five years ago with eight under-12 girls.

It now has more than 60 girls spread across age groups from under-eight to under-16, with an under-six team due to start after Easter.

In this weekend’s West Cumbria Youth League, a smattering of games went ahead despite the weather.
