A junior football tournament hit the back of the net in West Cumbria as 100 teams took to the pitch over the weekend.

The event, which was organised by Seaton Juniors FC, attracted teams from all over the county and even as far as Northumberland to the pitches at Netherhall School in Maryport.

St Bees Stingers were handed the Fair Play award for the under-eights competition.

The under-nines was won by Seaton United, with Whitehaven Amateur Blues second and Cleator Moor Celtic clinching the Fair Play award.

Whitehaven Amateur Wasps were victorious in the under-10s, followed by Workington Reds Juniors Reds, with the Fair Play award going to Whitehaven Amateur Hornets.

Hornets won the under-11s competition, while Moor Row Blues were runners-up and Dearham took the Fair Play.

The under-12s went to Morton Manor, with Cleator Moor Celtic second and Real Cockermouth given the Fair Play.

Bransty Rangers came out on top in the under-13s, followed by Corbridge United, with Senhouse Street Stars named Fair Play winners.

Last but not least, Maryport won the under-14s, with Workington Wanderers Whites second and Cockermouth taking the Fair Play.

Seaton coach Justin Booty, who helped organise the event, said: "It was absolutely brilliant and the weather definitely helped.

"We saw some excellent football played across each age group and everyone came off with a smile on their face.

"It was phenomenal to see the amount of people who came out to watch and it puts a shiver down your spine to think that you put it on.

"It'll definitely be on next year and hopefully even bigger."

Justin also thanked the parents and officials for their support over the weekend.
