Youngsters from Salterbeck and Bransty Rangers raised over £500 for Brain Tumour Research in a charity match at the weekend.

Salterbeck Under-13s welcomed their Bransty counterparts for the clash, in memory of Whitehaven man Chris Todd who lost his two-year battle with a brain tumour this year.

Chris’s grandsons Caleb and Elijah are both on the books of Salterbeck FC so the idea was born to support the charity.

The match itself finished 2-1 to Bransty and after bucket collections and a raffle, £525 was raised.

The match is now hoped to be an annual affair.
