Two Seaton youngsters have been snapped up by one of Super League’s biggest clubs.

Caine Barnes, 16, and Aaron Postlethwaite, 14, have both signed deals with Wigan Warriors.

Caine, who was previously on a scholarship with Wigan, has now signed a four-year academy deal with the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Aaron has signed a two-year scholarship deal and will be playing for Wigan’s U15s side.

Both players have starred for amateur side Seaton Rangers, which has seen a lot of its youth players being signed up by top rugby league teams.

Peter Gilmour, rugby secretary at Seaton Rangers, said: “As a club we are delighted that two of our young players have been recognised by the biggest name in British rugby league.

“The two lads are a real credit to themselves, their coaches, their family and the club.

“They not only possess an abundance of talent but have a tremendous work ethic, desire to learn and are outstanding young men.

“It’s tremendous for the area to see Workington lads achieve big things.”

Caine and Aaron follow Seaton’s Brad Lawrence in joining Wigan’s youth ranks. Brad is currently a member of Wigan’s U19s team and previously played for Seaton Rangers and Ellenborough.

Jonty Moore, Wigan Warriors’ Cumbria talent scout, kept a close watch on both Caine and Aaron for the Super League giants.

Jonty, of Cleator Moor, who has been in the job for around two years, has been impressed with the young talent in the county when watching matches.

He said: “Cumbria has some good, young players. There are a lot of good kids at Seaton at the moment.”
