Young speedsters from Northside Stars became champions in a last-gasp finale.
The speedway team won the Northern Junior League Championship on Saturday after narrowly beating Workington Meterors 20-16 at the Zebra Claims Stadium.
Stars were sitting one point below Berwick ahead of the clash and needed a result against Meteors to clinch the title.
The victory meant it was the first time the Stars have won the championship.
The league title comes just weeks after the Stars' home ground, Northside speedway training track, was attacked by yobs.
Vandals torched a building used for storage and changing rooms, slashed 23 air safety fence panels and knocked down a wall a fortnight ago.
But bosses and riders at the track defied the odds and have been able to continue to race at the track thanks to a huge volunteer effort.
Mike Bickley, who stood in as team manager on Saturday, said: "It was a real emotional end to the troubles we have had and the season we have had.
"We are quite proud of it. We have had the same team all season, we haven't had any guests."
