Whitehaven AFC Blue Under-12s kept in touch with league leaders Cleator Moor Celtic in the West Cumbria Youth League as they ran out 9-1 winners at Senhouse Stars.

An early goal from Zach Lester put the Blues in front but Senhouse reacted to quickly grab the equaliser.

However more pressure from the Blues saw them take in a 4-1 interval lead.

A second half dominated by the Blues saw Zach Lester go on to grab a hat-trick with Callum Wilson also netting three.

There were further goals from Louie Graham, Josh Foster and Leo Merrin.

The win kept them three points behind Celtic, who beat Whitehaven AFC Yellow 9-0 to stay top.

Amateurs' Yellows faced a tough task travelling to table toppers Cleator Moor Celtic.

After being well in the game early in the first half and following a couple of missed chances Celtic took advantage to open the scoring through Romeo Park.

Further goals came in to see Celtic go 5-0 ahead at the break. Park went on to complete a hat-trick, which included a spectacular overhead volley, as Celtic kept up the pressure against a spirited Yellows side who never gave up the chase.

Other Celtic scorers included Zak Colley, Luke Green, Harley Quato, Ben McCartney and Henry Brown.

Seaton United were 9-1 winners against Workington Reds, Maryport beat Aspatria 5-3 and Bransty Rangers went down 9-1 at home to Moor Row United.

Seaton Athletic were beaten 3-0 by Whitehaven Miners Social.

Dearham Rangers continued to set the pace in the U13 league with a 7-0 win at Maryport Athletic but Bransty Rangers kept the pressure on by beating Windscale 9-3.

Workington Reds White drew 4-4 with Cockermouth, Cleator Moor Celtic won 9-0 at Workington Reds Black and Whitehaven AFC were beaten 9-0 at home by Workington Rangers.

Seaton Juniors and Workington Wanderers Whites are still level on points at the top of the U14 division, with both sides winning all three of their games so far.

Salterbeck were beaten 2-0 at Seaton while Workington won 6-2 at Cockermouth.

A seven-goal thriller went Whitehaven Miners Social's way as they won 4-3 against Whitehaven AFC and Cleator Moor Celtic beat Bransty Rangers 9-0.

In the U16 league, Cockermouth got their first points on the board by beating Cleator Moor Celtic Under-15s 4-1, while league leaders Moor Row won 7-3 at Maryport Athletic and Celtic Under-16s were comfortable 9-1 winners against Whitehaven AFC.
