Bransty Rangers confirmed their place in the Benevolent Cup semi-finals thanks to victory against Borough at the weekend.

The Whitehaven outfit edged past their rivals 2-1 thanks to goals from Stewart O'Pray and Liam O'Pray.

Dale Hooper replied with a strike for Borough but they couldn't deny their hosts on the day.

Netherhall took their quarter-final to penalties against division one side Windscale before holding their nerve to progress.

It was all square after 90 minutes with the score at 2-2 thanks to a brace of goals for Alan Blair for Windscale, with Dan Burgess and Dan Myles replying for Netherhall.

There were no more goals in extra time to the game went to penalties where Netherhall prevailed 4-2.

In the Smurfit Kappa Division One, Frizington Whitestar took their opportunity to take top spot with a close 1-0 victory on the road to third place Gosforth with a Robson Todd strike.

Whitehaven Amateurs took the bragging rights by taking all three points at home to neighbours Whitehaven Miners Reserves, winning 7-2.

Rob Carr and Cai Docherty both recorded braces with one apiece for Jamie Wilson, Jordan Lightfoot and Dylan McAlone.

The visiting Miners got on the scoresheet for Scott Stables and Liam Seager.

In the Smurfit Kappa Conway Cup semi-final, high flying division one side Cleator Moor Celtic came up with the shock of the day.

Celtic beat Wigton Harriers 3-1, with goals from Edwards, Little and Close. Dan Stockdale got the Harriers' consolation.
