A Ryan Connelly hat-trick was crucial for Premier Division Bluebell as they saw off a spirited challenge from Division One leading lights Broughton.
Kieran Graham has been a prolific marksman for Broughton this season and he notched another hat-trick, which wasn’t quite good enough. Scott Pears grabbed a brace to see Bluebell through 5-3.
Senhouse Street Club were just a trifle easier winners as they saw-off Millfield Miners 5-2.
Terry Wharrier grabbed two for the winners with Scott Weston, Gary Hunter and Carl McCoy also on the mark while Dean Anderson hit both for the Miners.
Easiest winners were Sun Inn who saw-off Dearham Commercial 8-1 with hat-tricks for former Manchester City youth star Kingsley Grandison and Jason Parnaby. Paul Cuthell and Carl Muir also netted.
Matthew Lister scored the single consolation goal for Dearham Commercial.
Northside were comfortable 6-1 winners over Deer Orchard as Tony Berwick (2), Kurt Scott, John Price, Jamie Bramley and Mark Surtees found the back of the net. Julian Kay grabbed Orchard’s lone response.
There was only one Workington v Egremont inter-League clash and in it Yankees Bar beat St. Bees 4-1.
Gary Barnes, Nial McGee and Luke McIlroy scored the goals for Yankees who also had the help of an opponent who put one into his own net.
The other three games were all-Egremont affairs and proved to be the tightest of the round with one of them going to penalties. FC Cosmos won 4-2 on spot kicks after their tie with Whittington Car had finished 3-3 after extra time – 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes. Aarran Waterfield (2) and Ben Graham scored the goals for the Cosmos.
Lowca Pirates won a tight game with Thornhill Social by a single goal netted by Daniel McConvey.
Mirehouse edged it 3-2 against FC Labour with goals from Ryan Smith (2) and Stephen Priestley. Veteran Barry Irving netted both for FC Labour.
