The Jaguars knew a pair of victories would guarantee them the crown and they made a dream start on Friday as Rio smashed in the opener in the 22nd minute against Georgia State.
Jemma Purfield put the game beyond the visitors in the 79th minute as they moved above Coastal Carolina in the table with a 2-0 win.
Steffi opened the scoring just 51 seconds into Sunday’s game against Appalachian State with only her second goal of the season from a corner, but the away side equalised less than two minutes later.
Purfield added a brace for the Jaguars which wasn’t enough as they fell to a 4-3 defeat but Coastal Carolina’s failure to beat Louisiana-Lafayette meant the title went to the Hardys and their teammates.
