Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League action continued this week.
Round two of the Smurfit Kappa Conway Cup saw Netherhall travel to Whitehaven Amateurs and come away with 4-1 win through a brace from Zac Little, and one each for Darren Rule and Chris Dawes, with Callum Morgan replying for the home side.
Windscale entertained Silloth and went down 7-1. Lewis Mulla scored two, while Adam Carr, Reece Blake, Nico Watt and Andy Hardman found the net and there was also an own goal, with Mike Farrer getting the Windscale consolation.
Saturday saw the resumption of the Smurfit Kappa Premier League with Carlisle City hitting Whitehaven Miners for six without reply, with Kieran Blair scoring a hat-trick, a brace from Jordan Atkinson and Jamie Stalker completing the scoring.
Netherhall came out on top at home to close neighbours Aspatria 3-0 with their goals coming from Chris Dawes, Kieron Sloan and Darren Rule.
Cockermouth travelled to the seaside but came away empty handed, losing 5-0 to Silloth. Adam Carr fired home a treble, with Reece Blake and Nico Watt getting one each.
Workington Athletic took all three points on the road to Wigton Harriers through goals from Matthew Perry and Gareth Brunton.
In Division One, Cleator Moor Celtic recorded their first league defeat at newcomers Gosforth in a five-goal thriller in a 3-2 loss.
Owen Woodburn scored one and the prolific Jack Denwood scored twice for Gosforth with Reece Hughes and Liam Johnston replying for Celtic.
Frizington Whitestar moved in to top spot with a convincing 5-1 win over Bransty Rangers.
Jordan Lee fired in a hat-trick and Stefan Scott got brace for the home side with Connor Holiday getting Rangers’ consolation.
Nothing separated Unisun and Windscale who shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Theo Oghani scored for Unisun and Gregg Stainton scored for Windscale.
Borough travelled to Whitehaven Amateurs and won 5-1 thanks to a fine four goals from Lee Woolfe and another coming from Adam McDonald.
