There is one more week left to get your nominations in for the Cumbria Sports awards.

Do you know a junior or senior team that have had a fantastic 2017 or someone with a disability who has really excelled this year? Or is there a young volunteer in your club or organisation that is really making a difference? If the answer is yes, then get nominating now.

Whether an individual, volunteer, club, school or coach, a talented athlete who has achieved great things, or someone who, through sport and physical activity has changed their lifestyle for the better. Active Cumbria need to know.

The nomination period will end at midnight on Friday, October 20.

To submit a nomination online, go to www.activecumbria.org/cumbriasportsawards.

It is not only the headline-grabbing professional stars Active Cumbria are looking to honour.

It could be your child's teacher who coaches after school and works tirelessly to train a team for the next sports championships, a dedicated local team or it could be a coach at your sports club who has spent hours voluntary coaching, and you feel it is time they got the recognition they deserve.

The annual awards presentation dinner is held on November 24 at Low Wood Hotel, Windermere. It will be hosted by BBC Radio Cumbria's Mike Zeller.

The evening will close with a talk show style discussion with the England’s Under-20s manager Paul Simpson, who will be sharing the secrets of World Cup success.

Simpson, Carlisle United's former boss, led the first England team to win a football World Cup since 1966 after defeating Venezuela 1-0 in the final in Korea in June this year.

Tickets for the evening celebration at the Low Wood Hotel in Windermere can be requested online from Active Cumbria, priced at £30 each.
