A battle of the sexes football charity event in Workington raised £2,205.87 for charity.

Footballers from the town’s Yankees FC team took on a side made up of female staff from Yankees bar in a charity football match at the football pitches at Workington Leisure Centre last month.

The match and an after-party raised £2,205.87 for Cash for Kids, a charity which helps disabled and disadvantaged children in the UK.

The female team beat Yankees FC, whose players dressed in tutus, 8-5 to claim the victory.

An after-party was held at Yankees, on Washington Street, where there was live music, leg waxing, cream pie throwing, various games, and a raffle which several businesses donated prizes to.

There was also an auction which included a signed Liverpool Football Club shirt and a football signed by Steven Gerrard, donated by New Balance, Flimby.
