Supermoto racer Chris Hodgson is gunning for international success after becoming a 12-time British Champion last weekend.

The 28-year-old, of Maryport, won all six of his races in the eighth championship round at Rednal Raceway, Oswestry, to clinch the national title with two events to spare.

Hodgson, pictured left, said: “Going into the weekend I knew it was a possibility but I was just going to take it easy and not do anything stupid.

“It’s probably been my best year so far and I’ve won every round apart from one where I had a bit of a mechanical mishap.

“I didn’t expect to do a lot because I only landed back from Australia on Thursday, having been racing out there, so I was pretty tired.

“You don’t get bored of winning though.”

After adding to his impressive British Championship tally, Hodgson will represent Team GB in the Supermoto of Nations at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya next month and tackle the European Championship next year as he bids to make a name for himself across the continent.

“Hopefully we’re going to get some European stuff done next year and I’ve got a big race in Belgium next month,” Hodgson said.

“And when you get asked to represent your country in anything it’s always a proud moment.

“I’m riding the best I ever have and the other two lads are riding pretty well too.”

Chris has already committed to compete in the first round of the European Championship next year but needs sponsors’ backing to cover the £3,000-per-round costs.
