It was an all-Station Road derby in the semi-finals of the Craig Hamilton Art Summer Pool League last Thursday.

The final four sides in the competition were all out to impress.

The first semi saw Station Road C take on their D team in a derby in the Vets Club. The game was tight from the off, with both sides taking the lead before going into the doubles all square at 2-2.

The first double went the way of the League One winners before their clubmates bounced back to take the match to a deciding seventh frame through Steve Gibbon and Steve Potts.

Leading player Baz Collins won the toss and that would be his only involvement in the final as counterpart Dave Bateman took a classy clearance from his break to take Station Road C to the final 4-3.

The second semi saw League Two winners Lounge 41 A take on the veterans of the Vets Club in Station Road WMC. Frame one saw competition secretary Neil Henderson take the spoils, only for Lounge 41 to take the next three frames to be at the edge of the final.

A frame win for Vets pair Frank Lucas and Tut Irving led the game to require the sixth frame to gain a result as captain Neil Wilkinson and John Walker made all as they took Lounge 41 to the final which is due to be played tonight in Senhouse Street Club.

The trophy presentation was also due to be held after the final to round off a successful Summer League.

Organisers thanked both Vets Club and Station Road for hosting the semi-finals.
