There will be plenty of West Cumbrian interest in this weekend's U20 Rugby Union World Championship final with Seaton-born youngster Jamie Blamire in the England squad.

The final team has not yet been named as England face New Zealand in Sunday’s final at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi (live on ITV4, kick off 3pm, BST).

The Newcastle Falcons hooker is part of the 28-man England squad for the championship in Georgia.

The former Workington Zebras player played in the group match against Samoa at the start of the campaign, which they won 74-17.

England U20 sealed a dramatic 24-22 victory over South Africa in the semi-final of the championship, winning an enthralling contest to reach the finals.

And they are hoping to emulate their footballing counterpart’s World Cup success of last weekend to make it a superb summer for youth sport.
