Keswick Hockey Club had three teams at home in the latest round of matches and were happy enough to settle for two victories.

The Men's Seconds played host to Leyland Chorley, and their ranks were bolstered by to first team players coming back from injury in the shape of Jamie O'Shea and Rikki Barnes.

The Seconds do play well as a team in any case but the two additions made a difference.

The experience of O'Shea at the back and Barnes up front gave the others the chance to play with more freedom than normal.

The opposition had their hands full dealing with the two first teamers.

Charlie Goodwin, playing up front made numerous telling runs and putting in several good shots only to be thwarted by some good goal- keeping.

In mid-field Jack Chippendale was a constant threat with his strong running game. When Keswick did finally make the breakthrough, it was courtesy of Barnes and that was soon followed by a goal for Goodwin.

The pressure from the Keswick side continued, drawing more and more fouls from the Leyland team, which led to more chances.

One of them was again converted by Barnes to give Keswick a 3-0 win.

The Men's Thirds played next against Kirby Lonsdale Seconds, who were strong opposition.

Despite good defence from Jan Bzic, and Ian Loveridge, with some good saves from Dave Harris, the home team went into the break 2-0 down. The second half saw the youngsters in the Keswick team putting in some impressive runs and tackles.

George Borley and Mikey Watson pushed hard to get the team back to parity. However, it was the visitors who scored two more to double their lead.

Heads didn't drop and Mikey Watson managed a consolation goal for the home team in a 4-1 defeat.

The Ladies Seconds played host to Kendal Seconds, hoping to bounce back from last week’s big defeat to the Keswick Ladies first team. However. the Keswick Ladies were on the attack right from the first whistle with Suzanna Bosma leading the charge forward with several penetrating runs.

It wasn't long before they were ahead through Helena Sager, and then Lucy Andrews added the second.

As the half continued Rachel Armstrong started to have a big influence, turning defence into attack which became a big problem for the visitors.

It led to Ali Lister chipping in with the next two goals.

Up front Keswick had the experience of Emma Waite-Symonds who then added the fifth, before the non-stop running of Bosma was rewarded with goal number six for Keswick.

One of the younger players, Kate Whitmarsh was on hand to score the seventh, and Waite-Symonds rounded-off the scoring for an 8-0 win.

Keswick Ladies first team travelled down to Kendal for the second consecutive weekend to play Ambleside looking to gain another victory.

Keswick started strong with midfielders Katie Fisher and Jodie Cowperthwaite working well with the forwards to move the ball up the pitch and pressure Ambleside.

The home team defended well and were not letting Keswick score without a fight. After a long battle Amy Walker managed to slip one past the Ambleside keeper to give Keswick a 1-0 lead.

Ambleside came back fighting and managed to bring the game back to 1-1 just before half time.

Keswick knew they had a lot to do in the next half but started slowly. Keswick got a break and after some well rehearsed passing up the pitch Grace Law scored a spectacular goal to take Keswick back into the lead.

Keswick quickly got another two goals coming from Amy Walker and Amy Rush to take the game to 4-1 and the three points even closer to their reach.

Keeper Heather Ingram made sure Ambleside didn't close the gap by denying Ambleside their chance of a goal on a break.

Keswick weren't finished and with Ambleside packing their 'D' another goal wasn't going to be easy. After a lot of passing Ann-Marie Cowperthwaite managed to find the back of the net leaving the game ending 5-1 to Keswick, another super team effort.
