Keswick AC's Catherine Spurden broke the ladies record at this year's hotly contested Lorton 10k.

A bumper turnout saw a superb race take place over an undulating course.

And Spurden finished as first lady in a time of 38 minutes and eight seconds to take the record, also coming in 13th overall.

She was also part of the successful Keswick trio that won the ladies team event at the race, along with Rachel Mellor and Sue Wilkinson.

Claire Elliman was the second lady home in 42.17 with Nadia Shaw in third in 43.20.

The race was won by another Keswick athlete Sam Stead in a time of 34 minutes and 10 seconds, with Mark Benson second in 35.15.

Ellenborough AC's Richard Murdock took third in 35.28 just pipping his team-mate Lee Amor.

But the duo, along with clubmate Stuart Ackerley, who was seventh, in 36.43, took the men's team prize.
