Workington's Station Road B moved to within a point of the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League Division One lead with a 6-0 away thrashing of Division Two’s United Club.

Station Road B’s Simon Frazer started off the match in fine fashion with a break of 36 and, as this largely went unchallenged, he took the frame.

The next was won in an equally convincing manner as Tony Elliott defeated United’s Willie Fearon and, with Peter O’Hagan taking the third against United veteran Mike Dawson, Station B were 3-0 up.

A 32 break by Alan McLeod put paid to frame four with Station B team-mate Shaun Ayre soon making it 5-0 with a win over Clive Lister.

The last saw a battle of the captain’s as United’s Andrew Mitchelhill took on Station B’s Stephen O’Hagan.

A well-matched frame went all the way and, even though Mitchelhill took it all the way to the black, he could not avoid the whitewash as O’Hagan prevailed. The United Club stay third in Division Two.

Division One leaders Workington’s Veterans Club negotiated a tricky away fixture as they defeated fellow top-tier opponents Workington Golf Club 4-2.

A solid performance from Golf Club’s Bryan Walker took care of frame one and a scrappy second also looked like going in the same direction but, with great fighting spirit, it was Vets’ Paul Graham who levelled the score with a defeat of Mark Brasted.

Frames three and four also went the way of Vets’ with Craig Davies and Mark Tatton proving victorious over Phil Sorfleet and Stephen Jackson respectively.

Golf Club’s Mark Cowen pulled the score back to 3-2 with a win over Neil Henderson but it was Vets captain Kevin Basnett who delivered the win with a victory over Ian Fulton in the last. The Golf Club are still bottom of Division One.

Station Road A extended their lead to five points at the top of Division Two with a 5-1 home win against Aspatria’s Sun Inn.

Mark Robertson put Station A 1-0 up. However, it was Karl Charters who made it 1-1 with a win over Tom Thompson.

A contribution of 22 allowed Darren Lawson to take frame three and, as Mike Walker won frame four easily, the Station A cueists made it 3-1.

A victory for Barry Collins made it 4-1 to Station A and it was Collins senior (Peter) who finished off the match nicely with good win over Andrew Scott. The Sun Inn still sit fourth in Division Two.

Flimby Social produced a solid home performance as the Division Two side held Division One’s Maryport Social to a 3-3 draw.

The match started with a 36 break from Maryport’s Ryan Ismay as he defeated Flimby captain, Geoff Banton.

This advantage was shortlived, nevertheless, as Paul Vickers and Michael Walker put Flimby 2-1 up with victories over Paul Alford and Colin Sealby respectively.

However, a black ball victory for John Fleming over Richard Kirkham and a convincing win for Paul Lister against Sal Cakmak put Maryport 3-2 up.

In the last, Maryport’s Andrew Henderson potted some nice balls but in the end had to concede to Kevin Kirkham’s superior play as the Flimby man delivered the draw in style. Flimby are second in Division Two with Maryport third in Division One.

Finally, Workington Conservative Club kept in touch with the top two in Division One with a 5-1 home win against Workington Legion.
