Double win for Eaglesfield Paddle

THE sixth event in the primary orienteering league was held at Lamplugh School with 260 pupils running one of the four parallel courses.

FAST: Lewis Taylor with his Year 11 trophy

Eaglesfield Paddle had two wins with Jonty Fish taking course A in the fastest time of the day, just under eight minutes for the 1.4km with 40m climb course. School mate Rebecca Buchannan was fastest girl clocking 9.36 on course C.

The area has many rock outcrops and old workings, making the navigation tricky. With quite a lot of contour detail and the controls were not all that obvious until the runners were close.

The final standings in the league are found on the website www.lakes-o.freeserve.co.uk with the various winners of the school team trophies being announced at the final on June 26. The event is being held on an area near Camerton.

Those pupils wishing to keep their orienteering going over the summer months can check the website for details of venues of the informal evening events run by West Cumberland Orienteers.
