Cross pupils

PRIMARY school pupils combated windy conditions racing in Maryport Junior School’s cross-country event last Friday.

The girls’ race was won easily by Tania Wilson, of Broughton School in seven minutes 46 seconds. Next came Maryport Juniors’ Bethany James and then Rachel Myers of Holm Cultram Abbey.

In the boys’ event Jordan Ferguson of Seaton Juniors was the winner in 7.12. Second and third were taken by Ben Tyrer and Jack Durstan, both of Dearham School.

Team results - Girls: 1, Dearham, 30 points; 2, Maryport Junior, 33; 3, Broughton, 47. Boys: 1, Dearham, 14 points; 2, Maryport Juniors, 37; 3, Seaton, 51.
