Good turn out at FWC bird shows

FLIMBY West Coast Flying Club’s Portsmouth Show race drew 73 entries from both Derwent Valley and West Cumberland Federations.

As a result the prize money for the race will be: 1st, £73; 2nd, £54.75; 3rd, £36.50; 4th, £18.25.

The judge Stephen Chambers of the Keekle club gave show tickets to: 1, 8, J and D Hine and grandson; 2, 6, 7, B Trodden and son; 3, Hadfield and Devlin; 4, Mr and Mrs Garner; 5, Harker and Berwick.

Flimby West Coast’’s final show race for Fougeres attracted 48 entries and was judged by Alan Dawson and Delly Hughes of Millom.

They gave show tickets to: 1, Blacklock and son; 2, Varty, son and grandson; 3, Harker and Berwick; 4, 5, Fitzsimmons and son; 6, Mr and Mrs Garner; 7, E Hodgson and son; 8, Ellwood and co.

Organiser John Ellwood (pictured) said: “We’d just like to thank all the fanciers from the West Cumberland and Derwent Valley federations who supported the show series and show races. We look forward to their continued support.

“For Fougeres we will have prize money of 1st, £96; 2nd, £72; 3rd, £48 and 4th, £24.”

l Flimby Homing Society had 53 entries for their final show of old cocks or hens which was judged by George Lawman.

He gave tickets to: 1, 5, J Pearson; 2, 7, Nicholson and Crellin; 3, 6, Hunter bros; 4, Tinnion bros and Aitken; 8, G Weaver.

The show was sponsored by Long and Small garage with raffle donations from Brookside Farm Products.
