A MARTIAL arts father and son both collected ju-jitsu black belts at their club’s latest grading.
Leigh Stamper, 46, and son Rowen, 21, are both members of Combat Ju-Jitsu Academy which is based at Cockermouth Sports Centre.
It is the first time the club has graded a father and son combination for their black belts at the same time.
They joined the club in 2000 and have trained on a regular basis over the past seven years.
Leigh and Rowen have developed theirs skills in striking, kicking, throwing, joint locking, choking, strangling, grappling and traditional weapons.
Head of the grading panel Gene Mealey, a black belt 7th Dan, commented that both passed at a very high level and it was difficult to say which one was the better on the day.
