Top fighter

ONE of the world’s top ultimate fighters will be at Workington’s Hokushinko Fight Academy next weekend.
Brazilian Mario Neto, formerly rated fourth in the world heavyweight rankings, will give a three-hour seminar on June 24.
Mark Hodgson, who runs the academy, says Neto, is still one of the best and that his visit will be very instructive.
Ticket numbers are limited. They cost £20 and can be obtained from Hodgson on 07971737234.
Hodgson is also well on with organising another War in Workington event at the town’s sports centre.
And this next one on August 11 will also see the bouts taking place in a cage rather than a boxing ring.
Whitehaven’s Alex Cook, who is making a name on the national ultimate fighting circuit, is coaching West Cumbrian contestants on the different techniques needed for combat in a cage.
Making an appearance at the next War in Workington will be British fighter Mike Bisping, who recently won a challenge to compete in Ultimate Fighting in the United States, the world’s toughest arena.
