THOUSANDS of car enthusiasts visited the county for the 20th annual Cumbria Classic Weekend at Dalemain House, near Ullswater.
Wigton Motor Club organised the event, which brought together more than 400 classic vehicles.
Other anniversaries celebrated during the weekend were 60 years of the Jaguar XJ engine; 60 years of Land Rover, and 50 years of the Sprite and Midget models.
Graeme Forrester had the task of making sure everything ran smoothly.
He said: “It was very successful, particularly given the potential recently for inclement weather.
“But on the showfield it was quite pleasant and warm – we didn’t seem to have any of the rain afflicting some of the other parts of the county. It was like our own little sun spot.”
The car voted overall best in the show was an E-type Jaguar which proud owner Stuart Oliver, of Sebergham, has spent three years restoring.
