CHRIS Hodgson’s unstoppable performances in the Supermoto championships have seen the Maryport speedster picked for Team GB.
The 23-year-old is now 50 points clear in the race to land both the 450cc and Open titles following a faultless display at Wigan’s Three Sisters at the weekend.
Hodgson crossed the line first in all three races on Sunday and took second and third the day before - racing against World Championship riders.
He said: “To be picked to represent my country is an honour.
“I feel very privileged to be wearing the colours of Britain at an international event.
“It makes me feel very proud that my racing this year has been noticed.
“I’m flying right now. I’m clear at the top of both championships and know that I have one hand on the titles.
“I will not be taking anything for granted. There is still a lot of work to do in the remaining three rounds and I’m fully focused on making sure I win.
“At the Three Sisters, we were told to let the World Championship lads past so I did and finished top of every rider in our championship.
Hodgson will fly to Spain with the other two riders in October and compete against the best riders in the world.
This is the third time Hodgson has been chosen to represent Britain.
l Siddick rider Colin Scott, 10, will compete in the Moto-X Junior World Championships next in Italy later this month.
On board his 65cc bike, Scott, ranked fifth in Britain, will take part in the tournament next weekend.
