HELP WANTED: Supermoto racer Chris Hodgson

Maryport speedster Hodgson is self-funding his season so far but it’s costing the 24-year-old hundreds of pounds to enter both the British and European Championships.

Hodgson got his European season off to a flyer finishing fourth in Italy.

In the three races he competed in the open class in Ottobiano, Hodgson came seventh, fifth and third, missing out on an overall podium place by just two points.

He said: “I had some problems. I fell a couple of times, but got back up, dusted myself down and got on with the race.

“In the second race I went down at the first corner, ended up last, but still managed to pull it back and finish fifth.

“It’s costing me a lot of money though, and it’s not easy trying to fund your way around Europe.

“I’m doing really well, but I need some help to carry on.”

Hodgson recently blitzed the competition at Wigan’s Three Sisters track, winning all three British championship open class races to take an early lead in the competition he won convincingly last year.

Known fondly as the Racing Snake, Hodgson also won one, came second in another and fifth in the final race of the 450cc class.

He said: “I’ve started the season really well. I just need some help to keep. It’s expensive to race at home and abroad, so it would be great if someone could help with some sponsorship.”
