Know an inspirational sportsman or woman? Here’s your chance to nominate them for a fantastic award to acknowledge their sporting prowess!

The Times & Star is sponsoring the Sportsperson of the Year award at the inaugural Allerdale Sports Awards and we want you to nominate the person you think deserves to be recognised for their efforts.

The awards have been launched to help build on the legacy already left by the 2012 Olympics and celebrate the achievements of local talented athletes, coaches and volunteers.

Sports people over the age of 18 who has achieved something in the last 12 months are eligible to enter.

It could be they have chosen for a national squad, ranked highly in their chosen sport or won a high-level competition.

Co-ordinated by the Allerdale Sport and Physical Activity Alliance, the awards are your chance to shout about the stars in your community.

An awards ceremony and gala dinner will be held on October 19 at Maryport’s Wave Centre.
