Poor defending to blame, says Edmonson

WORKINGTON Reds boss Darren Edmondson admitted his side’s poor defending had cost them their unbeaten run at Borough Park on Tuesday.

They went down 2-1 against Alfreton to end a sequence of four games without defeat.

“We had talked at half-time about all defending together and keeping a clean sheet.

“I’m afraid that didn’t happen because three minutes after the re-start some sloppy defending gave them the opening goal.

“The second goal was another defensive disaster and I’m afraid you can’t give teams two goals start and expect to get anything out of the game,” said the Reds boss.

Reds visit Hyde United tomorrow before facing-up to a derby clash with high-flying Barrow on Tuesday.

The Holker Street side is on a brilliant run which has catapulted them into seventh, on the fringe of the play-offs.

Worcester City want to play Workington Reds on a Sunday at the end of the season.

Saturday’s game at Borough Park was called off because the pitch was waterlogged. The provisional date was Tuesday, April 22, but Worcester want to avoid a long mid-week journey.
