Having already won the Lancashire League, they aim to also lift the League Cup.

And they have home advantage, the final against Farsley Celtic Reserves being staged at Borough Park (3pm ko).

Reds secured the league title when they defeated their closest rivals for the honour, Fleetwood, 2-1.

Don Gullen and Ross Johnston - younger brother of first teamer Craig Johnston - were on target for the Reds.

Fleetwood’s goal came from the penalty spot after the highly experienced Kyle May was penalised.

Fleetwood ended the game with only nine players, one send off for a straight red-card offence and the other for two yellows.

Tomorrow’s Lancashire League Cup final is being sponsored by City Electrical Factors, of Workington.

Win or lose the Reserves intend to enjoy the day, celebrating their best ever season in the Lancashire League.

Neil Rudd Joinery is treating the players to a pre-match lunch before the game at the town’s Waverley Hotel.

And then afterwards the squad will be at Workington Comets’ speedway meeting as the guest of Comets owner Keith Denham.

The fortunes of the Reserves have been turned around in the last three seasons under the guidance of manager Herbert Briggs and coaches Stewart Rome and Colin Carter.

About half of the team are West Cumbrians, many of whom have come on through Reds’ academy at Newton Rigg College.

This season they’ve lost only two matches - one against Fleetwood in the league, the other against Lancaster in the group stage of the League Cup.

In the league Reds have played 20, won 17, lost one and drawn two. They score an impressive total of 77 goals - that’s more than three a game on average - and conceded only 23.
